The leaders of the Patriots member parties gathered in Brussels to coordinate and reaffirm common positions regarding the European Council meeting on 18 and 19 December.
The leaders congratulate Andrej Babis for becoming the first patriotic Prime Minister, and the Motoristé sobě for joining the government with leader Petr Macinka as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Environment, since the formation of the Patriots political family. They welcome his presence at the European Council on behalf of the Czech Republic which will further strengthen the effective representation of Patriots’ interests at the highest levels of European decision-making.
Patriots leaders reaffirm their commitment to peace in Ukraine. The momentum for peace must be encouraged. They insist that NATO remains a defence alliance. As the security of European countries is guaranteed by NATO, Europe should not hinder but support the peace efforts of the US President.
Leaders express concern about the proposals on the financing of Ukraine from a legal, political and institutional perspective. They call for avoiding a dangerous precedent and proposals that endanger Europe’s economic security. They reaffirm their position against joint borrowing, as this would push generations to come into debt.
Leaders also reiterate their view that Ukraine’s accession to the EU would pose major concerns with regard to the agriculture, labour market, and the security of the Member States.
Patriots find it unacceptable that the European Commission, instead of fulfilling its role as the guardian of the Treaties, is systematically undermining European law. The freezing of Russian assets has, up until now, required unanimous approval every six months, but with the current procedure, Brussels is eliminating the unanimity requirement. This goes against the EU Treaties. The Treaties are being similarly circumvented in the case of REPowerEU. The rule of law is being violated by the EU institutions, and the Brussels bureaucrats have placed themselves above the rules.
Patriots leaders reject the Migration Pact and the newly introduced Solidarity Pool, which can be interpreted as an invitation for illegal migrants. Illegal migration must be stopped, not managed. Stronger border protection and the swift return of illegal migrants is necessary.
Leaders are concerned about the Commission’s proposals on the new MFF, in particular the reduction of funds for farmers and Member States, giving more powers to the Commission and ideological conditionality. The conditionality mechanism is an ideological tool that abuses the concept of the rule of law and tramples on Member State sovereignty. Leaders oppose the blatant political misuse of the Erasmus+ programme, which is used as a tool of pressure against a Member State, while at the same time it is extended to third countries.
Patriots strongly oppose the Mercosur free trade agreement, negotiated by the European Commission to the detriment of our farmers. We defend a Europe that protects, not that abandons its farmers. Patriots will always defend the interests of our farmers.
Patriots leaders express their deep concern and strongly condemn the corruption cases that come to light on a daily basis as a result of Pedro Sánchez’s misrule in Spain.
Patriots leaders congratulate María Corina Machado on receiving the Nobel Peace Prize and express their support for her and the Venezuelan people’s struggle for freedom.
The Leaders also congratulate José Antonio Kast, a close friend of the Patriots, on his victory in the elections of the Republic of Chile and extend their best wishes for every success during his presidency.
Leaders stand in full solidarity with Marine Le Pen and Matteo Salvini who are facing judicial procedures and call for an end to the abuse of justice to convict and silence patriotic political leaders.
Patriots will continue to defend Member States’ sovereignty. They stand strong against the centralizing efforts of the European Commission and the violations of the EU Treaties. They call for a new leadership in Brussels which – instead of expanding its own powers – prioritises peace, security and the well-being of its citizens.
