Europe’s future : Demography, family and the renewal of European fundamental values (Riga, May 29).
Our European party held a seminar in Riga on demography and European values.
While targeting the causes of the declining birth rate, the speakers recalled the conditions for a renewal, reminding us, as Ainhoa García, National Spokesperson for Family and Local Affairs of Vox, stated: “without children, there is no future for the West.”
This issue concerns patriots above all, who, as Ainārs Šlesers, President of Latvia First, recalled in his introduction, “must be united, otherwise the fundamental values of Europe will be damaged.”
According to Zsófia Koncz, Member of the Hungarian National Assembly and former State Secretary for Families, « the key to our nation ‘s survival lies in the strength of our families , this is why we proudly proclaim that strong nation is built on strong families. »
Rita Maria Matias, a member of the Portuguese Assembly, emphasizes the importance of not pitting the sexes against each other: « The new European vision cannot be merely pro-woman. It must be pro-family. And to be pro-family is to tell men again that their presence matters.”
The subject is important, as it is around the civilizational foundation that renewal will be built. For this to happen, we must take pride in it, starting with the youngest generations. Mercina Claesen, President of Vlaams Belang Jongeren: “The youth that honors itself knows its roots. They know where they come from. They are not ashamed of their history. They understand that they are part of something greater than themselves.”
Martin Zeman also emphasized the economic conditions needed to relaunch the birth rate: “It is evident that decisions about starting a family are influenced by questions of economic security and stability.”
Our Director-General Boglárka Bólya concluded the seminar : « Europe must respond to today’s social and demographic challenges. But the answer cannot be the weakening of our identity or the replacement of our traditions. The answer must be a renewed commitment to strong families, sovereign nations and the values that made Europe worthy of inheritance in the first place. »
