Patriots Group Launched at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
Strong Voice for Sovereignty and Security Established in The Hague.
During the 33rd Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (4–8 July 2026) in The Hague, the Netherlands, the Patriots.eu European political party officially launched the Patriots Group within the OSCE PA.The new group brings together parliamentarians committed to national sovereignty, secure borders, and a realistic approach to security challenges across the OSCE region.
Axel Kasseger (FPÖ – Austria), Head of the Austrian delegation to the OSCE PA, was elected President of the Patriots Group.
Eugenio Zoffili (Lega – Italy), Vice-President of the OSCE PA, and Ellen Samyn (Vlaams Belang – Flanders, Belgium) were elected Vice-Presidents.
During the session, the Patriots Group took clear positions in defence of national interests. Members strongly opposed language in the draft resolution “International Law and Shared Principles” that described migration as “an enduring and potentially beneficial component of social economic development.” Alexander Van Hattem (PPV- the Netherlands) argued that such wording fails to address the real challenges of uncontrolled migration and its impact on security, social cohesion, and public services in OSCE participating states.
A major achievement was the unanimous adoption of the Supplementary Item on combating drug trafficking, authored by Eugenio Zoffili (Lega). The measure strengthens international cooperation against organised crime and drug trafficking networks — a growing threat to security across the OSCE area.
The Patriots Group also officially supported the candidature of Sir John Whittingdale (United Kingdom), who was successfully elected Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly with 96 votes.
Axel Kasseger, President of the Patriots Group, stated:
“The launch of the Patriots Group marks an important step forward. We are here to ensure that the voice of those who defend national sovereignty, secure borders, and effective cooperation against real threats such as drug trafficking is clearly heard within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.”
Eugenio Zoffili, Vice-President of the Patriots Group and author of the adopted drug trafficking measure, added:
“The unanimous adoption of our Supplementary Item demonstrates that when we focus on concrete security threats, we can achieve broad consensus. We will continue to work constructively on issues that truly matter to the security of our citizens.”
The Patriots Group will continue its work within the OSCE PA, promoting policies based on sovereignty, effective border management, and strong action against transnational crime.
