As the main opposition European Party in the European Union, we share the Appeal to the Peoples of Europe proclaimed today in Budapest.
Europe stands at a crossroads. The stakes for the peoples of Europe could not be higher: the preservation of the freedom, sovereignty and cultures of our nations. Today, only the Patriots represent the will of a growing number of Europeans who seek to retain control over their own future. We, the Patriots, believe in a strong Europe built upon free nations, where cooperation between sovereign states serves the interests and well- being of our peoples. We choose peace, freedom and sovereignty for our nations, and stand as the last line of defence against the relentless march toward bureaucratic centralisation.
This is our Message to the Peoples of Europe:
- We, the Patriots, stand for a Europe of free nations. We strongly reject any attempt to build a European superstate. We affirm that sovereignty belongs to the people – not to an increasingly overreaching, disconnected, and unaccountable Brussels bureaucracy.
- We raise our voices against the silent coup that is unfolding against national sovereignty. We reject the EU institutions’ attempts to claim powers that belong by law to the nations of Europe and their peoples. We are committed to upholding the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality, and we reject any further transfer of national sovereignty to European institutions.
- We oppose all efforts to abolish unanimous decision-making for it is crucial to safeguarding our national interests. We strongly condemn statements suggesting that state sovereignty is merely an illusion.
- We reject a distorted use of the rule of law as a political weapon against democratically elected governments. We reject the conditionality mechanism as a tool of pressure and blackmail to force Member States to change their sovereign policies.
- We are committed to strengthening the economic sovereignty of our nations by defending our industries and supporting small enterprises as the key pillars of national prosperity. We undertake to protect our farmers and producers from unfair competition and harmful trade agreements.
- We pledge to safeguard the energy sovereignty of our nations. Every country must retain the right to choose its energy sources and determine the structure of its energy supply. We reject any political, legal or infrastructural attempt to interfere in the national energy mix.
- We are committed to protecting the cultural sovereignty of our nations. We cherish their diversity, their history, and their traditions rooted in Europe’s Judeo-Christian heritage.
- We reject mass migration that undermines the security, cohesion, and identity of our societies. Only nations have the right to determine their own destiny and decide with whom they wish to live together.
- We call for an immediate return to common sense and the fundamental goals of European cooperation: ensuring peace, prosperity, and security for our peoples.
